About Me

Hi — I’m Richard, the photographer behind Greenshoots Photography.

I’ve been working as a photographer since 1986, and I still love what a good photograph can do for someone: build trust, open doors, and help people show up with confidence.

These days I specialise in professional headshots and business portraits — the kind that feel natural, modern, and like you, not a stiff “school photo” version of you.

A bit of background

I started out assisting in a studio that specialised in photographing works of art and jewellery — which is where I learned to obsess (in a good way) over detail, lighting, and finish.

From there, I photographed products for titles including Vogue, GQ, Harper’s Bazaar, Glamour, Esquire and Elle, and shot fashion work for The Shoe Studio Group.

That experience shapes what I do now: clean, confident imagery, strong lighting, and a professional standard — even when the shoot feels relaxed and easy.

What it’s like to work with me

If you’re thinking, “I’m not photogenic” or “I hate having my picture taken” — you’re in good company.

My sessions are calm, guided and efficient. I’ll help you with:

simple direction (no awkward posing)
expressions that look genuine, not forced
the little details that matter — posture, angles, clothing, and light

You won’t be left guessing what to do, and you won’t be over-edited into someone you don’t recognise.

Outside the studio

I’m married and share life with four beagles — which means I’m well-practised in patience, herding, and staying cheerful when things don’t go to plan. (Useful skills for photography, as it turns out.)

Where I work

I’m based in Cambridgeshire and regularly work in London — including bringing a consistent mobile setup to offices for team headshots.

If you’d like to chat about what you need — even if you’re not sure yet — get in touch and I’ll point you in the right direction.
